- The cards: The Game of Hope (Das Spiel der Hoffnung) originated as the parlor game created by J.K. Hechtel in Nuremberg during the late 1790s. It contained 36 cards and wasn’t called “Petit Lenormand” until after Marie Anne Adelaide Le Normand’s (1772-1843) death. She became the most famous fortune-teller in Europe during the Napoleonic era, giving cartomantic advice to many famous persons, among them leaders of the French revolution (Marat, Robespierre and St-Just), Empress Josephine and Tsar Alexander I. She was active for more than 40 years.
- Emotional Release: After doing card readings I was always left with a feeling of helplessness when I was telling my clients about their challenges they were facing in order to get to their goals. I started to wonder how I could help them travel light and with ease instead of carrying all these baggage full of past trauma, present anxiety or future worries. If you want to change it, you need to change your story and you can do so at any point in your life through releasing your past. “A story has no beginning or end: arbitrarily one chooses that moment of experience from which to look back or from which to look ahead.” (Graham Greene) After we have released the emotion behind a challenging card you are going to draw a new card to replace the old one. And with that your story changes.

Why is it important to release or let go of emotions that are keeping you imprisoned and prevent you from living your life to the fullest?
Emotions control your thinking, behavior and actions. Emotions affect your physical bodies as much as your body affects your feelings and thinking. People who ignore, dismiss, repress or just ventilate their emotions, are setting themselves up for physical illness. Emotions that are not felt and released but buried within the body or in the aura can cause serious illness, including cancer, arthritis, and many types of chronic illnesses. Negative emotions such as fear, anxiety, negativity, frustration and depression cause chemical reactions in your body that are very different from the chemicals released when you feel positive emotions such as happy, content, loved, accepted.
How to release those unwanted emotions?
There is a healing option for handling a feeling – you can focus on it, fully experience it, and then let go of it: release it, discharge it. This is the healthiest way to handle a feeling that is consuming us. We’ve all had the experience of being in the midst of an emotional explosion and then suddenly began to laugh at ourselves, realizing how silly or inappropriate or useless our behavior is. In other words we became conscious.

Today I have a short video process on how to release your negative emotions more effectively. This process will assist you in releasing emotional distress and facilitate reconnecting to your heart to feel good. You will connect more deeply to your emotional sensitivity to process feelings that may be causing you discomfort. It is vital to recognize your emotions, particularly when overwhelmed, so you can release them and come back into balance through acceptance of what is. This practice that can be done any time you need more support to identify what you are feeling particularly if you are distressed.

Winter teaches us that the only way to fully enjoy the powers of the season is to surrender to it, let go and learn from what it has to offer us. In winter the earth lies fallow; nature appears frozen and dead. In this deep stillness of nature, winter calls us to look into our depths, to reconnect to our inner being/our inner child, to befriend the darkness/shadows within us and around us. In winter—like the seeds that are beginning their metamorphosis and starting to manifest their destiny in the deep recesses of the earth—all of our energies are being called to be at rest, and through transformation and change replenish themselves like it happens in all of nature’s cycles.
“In winter all is hidden. Winter is the season of retirement into depth, because of the cold outside. At this time you must not disturb or disperse the yang (Fire, active) energy so that you can allow the yin reserves to be re-established within you.” (Quote of the Yellow Emperor)
This depth—our core—is the place where we are afraid to journey; so in this season of darkness we try to fill it with what appears to be light. We celebrate the holidays, eat and drink heartily, socialize frequently, and try to distract us from the aloneness* that winter calls us to. We do not realize that the entry to our inner world is most accessible during this time of the year and if we would like to find out more about who we are and how we can find purpose and meaning, we should follow the invitation to step into and explore the unknown places within us.
*Aloneness is presence, fullness, aliveness, joy of being, overflowing love. You are complete. Nobody is needed, you are enough.
Water contains the most Yin of all the five elements. The organ systems associated with Water are the Kidneys and Bladder, which rule water metabolism and maintain homeostasis, a dynamic continual re-balancing system.
Water has no shape, taking the form given to it by its container. It is mutable and can become solid as ice or manifest only as vapor. The most yielding of all the elements, it will break down even the hardest rock over time and find the path of least resistance to move around any obstacle.
Throughout Winter you will tend to experience a mix of pessimistic and optimistic emotions that naturally tend to trigger a state of procrastination: Guilt – Fear – Relief – Grief – Hope
In Traditional Chinese Medicine “Fear” is the emotion associated with the Water Element. In a healthy way, fear is an emotion that moves and directs us to remain alert and attentive to our surroundings and situation. When confronted with danger, constructive fear can guide us with a message of caution and restraint and fill us with a sense of readiness and courage to face whatever situation might present itself.
Unbalanced fear however becomes an obstacle to the energy flow. It might manifest as chronic anxiety or as an intense phobia, but in either case it often signifies a deficiency in the Water energy and a corresponding lack of grounding, causing the energy to be trapped.

How to Keep Yourself Healthy and Joyful During Winter
• Practice Self-acceptance, love, forgiveness and gratitude: Fears can freeze us so that we feel stuck and hopeless. We need to learn the gentle art of “witnessing” to ourselves without judging ourselves. Rather than attempting to overcome our fears, we can learn to recognize and accept them. Self-awareness and self-acceptance help us move on in a healthful way. Show gratitude for everything you already have in your life. Practice ho’oponopono, the forgiveness-prayer.
• Take time to listen inwardly and recharge: Listen to your body, and take time to replenish your reserves. Winter is a time to recharge; so learn to listen to your heart speaking to you. This is a time of receiving, not doing. Keep a journal and record your feelings, thoughts, and dreams: donʼt interpret, just record. Allow images to unfold and see if the images convey an inner message to you.
• Nurture your soul and nourish your body: Imagine that the ideas and images that have been planted and are germinating within you, as in a garden, will begin to sprout in the spring. Nurture these images of hope, but allow them to grow and develop within you quietly and naturally, just as plants grow. It is also very important to hydrate by drinking at least 8 to 10 glasses of fresh water daily. Eat warming foods such as root vegetables, whole grains, and small amounts of meat or fish protein.
• Keep warm and dress in layers: Prepare for the weather, and dress accordingly. Chinese medicine says that the neck and shoulder areas contain the “Wind” points through which pathogens can enter, so keep these areas protected; wear a scarf and keep your neck covered.

It’s quiet in the room, just the monotonous humming of the fridge. My thoughts are going back to yesterday’s conversations with numerous people during the day. “We’ll remember the heroes, serving our country.” one person said. “My uncle was cold-bloodedly shot by a German soldier because he was injured and therefore too much of a burden to be transported to the prisoner camp.”
Are there really heroes in a war, I silently ask myself. For me heroes are always outside a situation where human beings are killed. Heroes for me are people like Mother Theresa, who make the world a better place and live their lives spreading love. I cannot see how one person killing another person could be a hero. For me there are no winners or losers in war times. It’s solely destruction of human life, destruction of buildings, destruction of the psyche.
I don’t feel like honoring soldiers today. I’m not proud of my grandfather for being a soldier. I think if the war could have been avoided, I would have been able to get to know a man, who just wanted to be there for his family, but was only able to see his two sons on one of his leaves. He left behind his wife who had to flee from the Russians and start her life over in a foreign country as a single mother.
“But they are defending our homeland” somebody else said. Well, if there is no attack, nothing needs to be defended. “You are talking like a little child” my friend replied to my idea about worldwide disarmament. Maybe, but children wouldn’t cause a war. This is about the adults who have radical thoughts; adults lacking intelligence, responsibility and a sound common sense. And there are so many who are easily, out of fear, incited through manipulative powers, to commit crime against mankind.
“A great deal of fear is a result of just “not knowing.” We do not know what is involved in a new situation. We do not know whether we can deal with it. The sooner we learn what it entails, the sooner we can dissolve our fear.” says Eleanor Roosevelt. But so many people do not want to learn; they prefer to be stuck in this convenient state that doesn’t require responsibility.
Then, we have another passionate proponent for war throughout history: religion. Planned to be a haven of safety and love the church is ruled by ruthless, mercenary conspirators. Although not visible to everyone those wars go on and on underneath the surface. I never liked churches, those gigantic buildings with all the saints, dressed in dear beat-gold. Perhaps I always had a nose for dishonesty and this was one of the first places I could hardly breathe because of the pungent odor of lies filling the whole space.
Long story short, today I will celebrate humanity and love! I will light a candle and send loving thoughts and prayers to heal the world. I change the title from “remembrance” to “choice”. Today is my “Day of Choice”! We have the freedom to choose in every second of our life. Wow, how powerful is that? Freedom, Choice, Love, Humanity… Powerful words! We should use them more often and stand behind them. The constants in life are about making a choice, welcoming the change that comes with it and living by one’s highest humanitarian values that represent love, honesty and responsibility.
If mankind could make the right choice, wars could be totally avoided and the world would be suffused with peace.
